upp.the.arts is managed by Uppingham School (Charity No. is 527951) for the benefit of the school and the local community. Our aims are to ensure that high quality arts events in Rutland and the surrounding area reach the widest possible audience. We promote and support these events and provide on-line booking facilities to make it easy to book everything from one source.

We carry information about performances and events including:

  • Uppingham Theatre
  • Uppingham Concerts
  • Vale of Catmose College
  • Music in Lyddington
  • Live Poets Society
  • Uppingham Theatre Company
  • Rutland Musical Theatre
  • The Goldmark Gallery
  • Local businesses involved in art, antiques and books

The arts thrive on the inspiration provided by superb performers, and the energy & enthusiasm of local people. During recent years you will have been able to see a major arts event in Rutland almost every week. That includes performances by Alexander McCall Smith, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Gervase Phinn, The Sixteen, Steven Berkoff, Nicola Bennedetti, Stephen Hough, The Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers, The Reduced Shakespeare Company, the Poet Laureate, art critic Brian Sewell, The Ukulel Orchestra of Great Britain, Simon Armitage, Blazin' Fiddles, Dennis Rollins, Andrew Kennedy, Jacqui Dankworth, and many other distinguished writers, artists, musicians and actors. Uppingham School pupils present regular shows, which have included musicals like Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, Guys & Dolls, and plays such as The Passion.

If you are interested in being part of upp.the.arts - in organization, planning, programming, being involved in events - please contact us via the direct upp.the.arts email link above or by phone on 01572 820820.
