upp.the.arts is managed by Uppingham School (Charity No. is 527951) for the benefit of the school and the local community. Our aims are to ensure that high quality arts events in Rutland and the surrounding area reach the widest possible audience. We promote and support these events and provide on-line booking facilities to make it easy to book everything from one source.

The arts thrive on the inspiration provided by superb performers, and the energy & enthusiasm of local people. During recent years you will have been able to see a major arts event in Rutland almost every week. That includes performances by George Melly, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Kings Singers, The Reduced Shakespeare Company, the Poet Laureate, I Fagiolini, The Black Umfolosi, the winner of the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry, the Lindsay String Quartet, last year’s Oakham Festival, and many other distinguished writers,artists,musicians and actors.

This year sees the first Uppingham Fringe Festival – upp.the.fringe, complementing the Oakham Festival and bringing Rutland together.The arts are thriving in Rutland, and upp.the.arts together with Arts 4 Rutland intends to keep it that way. This season includes major jazz artists, art exhibitions, modern drama, comedy and concerts, which you will find on this website.
