Educational Workshops

There are educational workshops attached to many of our shows. If you interested in attending one, or bringing one to your school, please get in touch. Currently available are the following. There are charges for these, and they are only available to those purchasing tickets for the show in question.

Kinds of Magic...

Welcome to another Spring and Summer of enticing events in Uppingham. We have another cracking programme for you, with a mix of top class international musicians, contemporary drama, brilliant and risqué comedy, fascinating speakers, and something completely different.

The highlights for me are musical. The Sixteen are almost certainly the best choir in the world at the moment; their performances magical, expressive and polished. In June they perform a remarkable piece of choral music, Thomas Tallis' 40 part motet Spem in Alium, with Uppingham School choral scholars and staff. In January Nicola Benedetti will weave her magic with Vivaldi's 4 Seasons, a piece which never ceases to surprise me with its brilliant string writing. There is proper Magic as well, and Juggling; and Adolf, a play that, if you haven't seen, you must not miss. Of all the shows we have had it is the one whose shocking denouement lingers in people's memory. For modern drama, there's a chance to see John Osborne's Look Back in Anger, the play which changed English Theatre, and the remarkable White Men with Weapons, a powerful insight into South African history.

We continue our generous Gimme 5 offer, and seats unsold at 7.15pm on the evening of the show are available only at the door for £5.00. Tickets are on sale now online and at Uppingham Bookshop. Telephone booking opens on January 10th. The lovely Carol Hopkins has left us, so there will be a new voice at the end of phone!

The Man who was Hamlet - Wed Jan 19

George Dillon is a very experienced practitioner who has worked with Steven Berkoff, and offers a post-show discussion and an acting/ Berkoff workshop on the following day - in Uppingham or at your school.

Kafka's The Trial - Wed March 10

Splendide Productions specialize in educational work, and offer high class practical workshops at Uppingham or in your school, geared to your needs.
