Music - Music in Lyddington
image for layout

Music in Lyddington
was formed in 1991 to promote concerts in the beautiful surroundings and excellent acoustics of St Andrew's Church, and since then it has grown steadily. The consistently high quality of the performers, most of whom have established professional careers, has ensured the success of the society. The performers themselves enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the excellent grand piano.

All performances are at 7.30pm in St Andrews Church unless stated otherwise

Music in Lyddington is a registered charity no. 1040099, and aims to provide musiclovers in Rutland and its surroundings with fine music in a regular series of small-scale but high quality concerts and to encourage young musicians. The Society gratefully acknowledges financial assistance from East Midlands Arts, which helps it achieve these aims, and the support of Rutnet, in hosting this website. The Committee is most grateful to Sponsors, who with the Members make the concerts possible. Concerts are given in St. Andrew's Church by kind permission of the church wardens and the PCC.

Amenities
The Church is accessible to the disabled. Church pews are not padded and some concert-goers bring a thin cushion. Cushions are also available at concerts for a small fee. Although the Church is heated, it can be cool in cold weather. There are no toilets in the Church, but these are available, including one for the disabled, in the Village Hall (100 yards).

Refreshments
Wine and soft drinks are available before concerts and during the interval. Coffee and tea are available in the interval.

Access & Parking
Lyddington lies 1 mile south of Uppingham, just to the east of the A6003 road from Kettering to Oakham. Main Street of the village runs North-South and the junction with Church Lane may be found a hundred yards South of the village green, where there is a small medieval watch tower on the corner. There is very little room to park on Church Lane, so we would please ask you to park on the West side of Main Street (i.e. the opposite side to Church Lane) and avoid blocking the road. The Church is only a short walk along Church Lane. A torch can be helpful.
