The Old School Room
The Old School Room is an historic and beautiful room originally used for the majority of the teaching at Uppingham School in the early 19th Century. Seating approximately 80 people, able to house 100 standing, it has a magnificent vaulted ceiling, dramatic lighting, and recently restored frescoes of major classical and English literary figures - Cicero, Dante, Wordsworth, Scott - designed to inspire Victorian pupils to greater efforts.
Ideal for formal events (not for seated meals), talks, conference events, concerts or recitals, it adds a sense of living history and privilege to any event. Situated next to the Chapel, it is also ideal for wedding receptions. There are currently no facilities for the disabled - the room is situated on the first floor and reached by stairs.
